BCSDA submission on strengthening Australia’s response to modern slavery in supply chains

On 25 September 2026, the Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia lodged a response to the Australian Government consultation on strengthening Australia’s legislative response to modern slavery in supply chains.

This paper sets out BCSDA’s consolidated position on the issues addressed through that consultation, following review and feedback from BCSDA Learn and Lead Members.

BCSDA supports the objective of stronger prevention and corporate accountability, with a focus on ensuring that the proposed framework directs business attention and resources toward effective prevention, earlier identification of harm and appropriate remediation—not additional documentation alone.
