BCSDA Welcomes Diverse Expertise with New Board Directors to Champion Sustainable Development

SYDNEY, 26 JANUARY 2024 – In a strategic move to elevate its leadership in sustainable development, the Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia (BCSDA) proudly announces the appointment of four distinguished new Directors to its Board. This step fortifies BCSDA’s commitment to guiding Australian businesses on the path to Net Zero, championing Nature Positive outcomes, and upholding principles of Human Rights, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity.

 

During the recent Annual General Meeting, the Board welcomed the expertise of Sue Brown, Executive Group Director of Sustainability at Worley, Jessica Douglas, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at OneFortyOne, and Susan Moylan-Coombs, Founder and Director of The Gaimaragal Group. Their appointments promise to bring fresh perspectives and robust experience to BCSDA’s mission. Additionally, Bahador Tari, General Manager of Strategy at Energetics, has been appointed to fill a casual vacancy, bringing strategic acumen to the organisation.

 

Also at the AGM, BCSDA CEO Andrew Petersen and Toby Kent, Partner, Energy Transition, ESG Lead, PwC Private, were named as Co-Opted Directors. In a testament to their invaluable contributions, Rosemary Bissett and Dr. John Hewson have been reappointed to continue their impactful governance.

 

Under the insightful chairmanship of Dr. Hewson, BCSDA celebrates a significant milestone in governance diversity – achieving a 64% female and 36% male gender balance on the Board. The organisation is also honoured to welcome Susan Moylan-Coombs, a renowned indigenous business leader, marking an inaugural step towards greater cultural representation and inclusivity.

 

“The infusion of expertise with Sue, Jessica, Susan, and Bahador joining the Board, augments our governance capabilities to strategically address the pressing challenges of sustainable development,” remarked Dr. Hewson. “Their collective experience will be pivotal in driving BCSDA’s advocacy for a sustainable future, reflecting our core values of inclusivity and accountability.”

 

The AGM also approved the continued service of Board members Libby Rankin, General Manager, Risk, Compliance and Audit at NRMA Motoring and Services, Ramola Yardi, Corporate CSR Manager, ARTC, and Marian Gruber, Managing Director, ZOOiD.
