Australian Businesses Driving Sustainability
The Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia (BCSD Australia) is the national peak body representing forward-thinking companies and organisations that are working towards the transition to a sustainable Australia. Our mission is to accelerate this transition by making sustainable business more successful.
We are the Australian partner of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Previously known as Sustainable Business Australia, our members come from all sectors and industries, representing more than 150,000 employees across Australia.
Our members believe that by integrating social and environmental impacts with financial results, business lowers its risk profile, makes better decisions and creates the solutions needed to meet the Sustainable Development Goals.

BCSDA EXCHANGE | From signals to decisions: leadership priorities for a more volatile 2026
Our latest EXCHANGE brought together perspectives on talent, governance and geopolitics — and what leaders should prioritise now as sustainability reporting goes live and the operating environment becomes more contested.
The session framed the current moment through four overlapping pressures: Australia’s first mandatory sustainability reporting cycle now being live, heightened governance expectations, the growing strategic relevance of AI, and renewed geopolitical volatility affecting energy, logistics and markets.

Trent Bartlett then turned to the board agenda, with an integrated governance frame across climate, nature, AI, circularity and human capital, and a practical set of actions leaders can take now. Anthony Coles added a geopolitical and industrial strategy perspective, drawing on China’s ecological value system and the green economy narrative behind “Made in China 2035”.
